Mark Zuckerberg Marries Longtime Girlfriend Priscilla Chan; Facebook Stock Falls for Third Day in a Row

As you probably know by now (unless you live under a rock or something), Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg married his college sweetheart Priscilla Chan over the weekend.

On Saturday (May 19), just one day after Facebook went public on the stock market, Mark updated his relationship status to “married,” capping off a very busy week for the couple.
Mark’s 28th birthday was last Monday (May 14), the same day Priscilla graduated from medical school at the University of California in San Francisco; and on Friday, Mark took his 8-year-old company public in one of the most anticipated stock offerings in the history of Wall Street.
According to close friends, Zuckerberg and Chan met and Harvard before Mark started Facebook, and have been dating for almost 10 years.
The wedding ceremony took place in Mark’s back yard in Palo Alto, CA in front of less than 100 guests, who were originally told that they were coming to celebrate Chan’s graduation, but when they arrived, found out that they were there for a wedding. “Everybody was shocked,” one guest said, speaking anonymously on behalf of the couple.
Mark wore a suit, while his bride wore a traditional white wedding gown that reportedly cost $4,700, and was designed by Claire Pettibone, a Los Angeles-based designer. Mark also designed the ring featuring “a very simple ruby.”
Mark and Priscilla had been privately planning their surprise wedding for months, but were waiting until Chan had graduated to officially exchange vows.
And just in case you wondering … no, the wedding was not timed to perfectly follow Facebook’s IPO, since the date the company planned to go public was a “moving target,” according to sources.
The New York Times and other media outlets noted that by waiting until the day after he cashed in on Facebook, Mark conveniently protected his billion-dollar fortune from California’s communal property laws that state that everything a couple earns or buys after they get married is split evenly between them if they get a divorce … but anything they owned individually before the marriage is theirs to keep.
Mark married his college sweetheart the day AFTER Facebook went public, clearly establishing his pre-marriage net worth.
But had he tied the knot anytime before that, Priscilla would have almost certainly been guaranteed to receive half of Mark’s Facebook shares if they should ever get divorced. (Though they probably have a prenuptial agreement, but that’s another story…)
And speaking of the Facebook IPO … according to a report today from the Associated Press, Facebook’s stock has fallen for the third day in a row, and investors are reconsidering how much the social network is actually worth.

Facebook’s long-awaited initial public offering of stock raised $16 billion (at $38/share) last Friday, giving the company a $104 billion value, which is $6 billion more than Amazon, Inc.
But after just three days of trading, the price of Facebook, Inc.’s stock has fallen $7, to $31, representing an almost 20 percent drop, which takes the company’s valuation down to about $90 billion.
Meanwhile, Google, Inc. — Facebook’s biggest rival — is worth $200 billion, and is currently trading at over $600/share.
Facebook’s IPO was supposed to prove that social media is not just a passing fad, and is capable to co-exist with the big boys on the stock market … but so far, it has yet to do that.
On the other hand, Facebook’s traffic continues to grow, as they recently announced that they are pushing 1 billion users … but will they survive the stock market? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
But regardless of how Facebook’s stock does, Mark will still be a happily married billionaire … so congrats to him on succeeding at life before the age of 30.

WHY BUSY SIGNAL BEING EXTRADITED, DID HE SNITCHED ON HIMSELF?

Popular Jamaican Dancehall singjay ‘Busy Signal’ was yesterday arrested by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston as he disembarked a flight, at 3:45 pm, after being deported from the United Kingdom.
The artiste, whose real name is Glendale Goshia Gordon, but who has been going by the name Reanno Devon Gordon, was held in London on Friday on suspicion that he was travelling on false documents.
Jamaica Observer sources say Busy Signal had performed in Amsterdam and Paris last week, but cut short his tour after he apparently got wind of the fact that an extradition warrant was issued for him by the United States Government.
However, when he got to England he was refused entry into that country and detained by British Immigration officials.
The Americans have accused Gordon, who was a resident alien, of fleeing that country in 2002 before he could be sentenced on a cocaine charge in October that year.
An Observer source said yesterday that the artiste, who got bail in March 2002, is suspected of removing an ankle bracelet (as he suggested in his hit single below "nah go a jail") — used as a tracking device by US authorities to ascertain the whereabouts of a suspect on bail — and fleeing to Jamaica.
Police yesterday said the artiste has been under surveillance for several years.
He has been travelling extensively but has steered clear of the US.
Gordon is scheduled to appear in the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. If he is extradited, he will be first high-profile Jamaican to be surrendered to the US authorities in the two years since former Tivoli Gardens strongman Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke was captured and sent to New York on drug-related charges.
A sentencing hearing is set to begin today for Coke, who pleaded guilty to racketeering.
Busy Signal is known for the popular hits One More Night — a remake of the Phil Collins original, Jamaica Love and Nah Go A Jail Again.

Avengers' Opens to Record-Shattering $200.3 Million

Joss Whedon's The Avengers has set a new bar in opening to a walloping $200.3 million at the domestic box office, the largest debut ever and kicking off summer 2012 in high style.
The 3D tentpole -- marking a major victory for Disney and Marvel Studios -- easily dethroned Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which opened to $169.2 million last summer, then the largest number in history.
Avengers opened a week ago overseas, earning a whopping $441.5 million through Sunday. The pic's worldwide total of $641.8 million has already surpassed the lifetime totals of Captain America: The First Avenger ($364 million), Thor ($449 million), Iron Man ($585 million) and Iron Man 2 ($624 million).
The pic -- which assembles Marvel superhero characters Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) -- earned a glowing A+ CinemaScore.
Avengers is now positioned to reach $1 billion in global grosses in a much-needed win for Disney, which posted a $200 million loss after John Carter cratered at the box office earlier this year. It's also a validation of Marvel's strategy to build a franchise by turning out single titles -- Iron ManThorand Captain America -- and then bring the characters together. Avengers also could reboot The Hulkfilm franchise.
Among other records, Avengers is the first film in history to cross $200 million in only three days of play at the domestic box office. It also scored the biggest Saturday gross of all time in earning $69.7 million.
"It's been a fantastic weekend on every single front," Disney executive vice president of distribution Dave Hollis said.
Hollis said the slim 13 percent drop from Friday to Saturday reflects great word of mouth, as well as the fact that all segments of the audience are turning out, including families. Roughly 52 percent saw it in 3D.
The tentpole played evenly in terms of age, with 50 percent of the audience under the the age of 25 and 50 percent over. Couples made up 55 percent, families 24 percent and teens 21 percent. Males represented 60 percent of the audience.
IMAX theaters reported record business, generating north of $15 million in ticket sales domestically to tie with Deathly Hallows Part 2 for the biggest opening weekend in the circuit's history. IMAX expects to finish the weekend with a worldwide cume of $31.2 million.
Avengers is the first Marvel title marketed and distributed by Disney since buying Marvel. Paramount distributed Marvel's previous films and, in exchange for ending its output deal early with Marvel, will receive a mininum of  $115 million in distribution fees for Avengers and next summer'sIron Man 3.
Avengers was the only wide release of the weekend. At the specialty box office, Fox Searchlight looked to counterprogram with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which opened in 27 theaters in 12 markets. Marigold grossed $750,301 for a pleasing per location average of $27,789.
Fox Searchlight's Sheila DeLoach said the film -- which has already a stellar $72 million overseas -- succeeded in luring baby boomers, evidenced by sold out matinee and early evening shows. Marigoldstars Judi DenchBill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson.

Usher claims his ex-wife Tameka Foster threaten to kill him

Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster claims she never threatened to kill the R&B superstar, but she did admit under oath to saying "I will f**k you up" ... so you can see how he might have taken it the wrong way.

Usher and Tameka have been going through a bitter legal fight  over custody of their two young children -- a fight that came to a head in a Georgia courtroom this past week.

Tameka took the stand and, as you can see in this video, was questioned by Usher's attorney about her verbal and abusive threat towards the singer -- where she allegedly said "I will kill you both," referring to Usher and his current girlfriend.

Foster went back and forth with her answer before coughing up a half-admission, saying she didn't threaten to "kill" him ... but admitting, "I did probably, out of anger, say 'I will f**k you up' and it's not acceptable."

Foster claims the menacing statement was a result of Usher gallivanting in and out of town with his new GF, which was  "embarrassing" for her in such a tight knit community.

Jessica Simpson's daughter Maxwell Drew could be a $14 million baby

After what seemed like the longest pregnancy in gestational history, Jessica Simpson has finally lost her baby bump.
And now that Simpson is officially a mommy, she is about to get a financial boost to the tune of about $14 million, if she plays her cards right.
And knowing Simpson, she will.
How can Jessica Simpson make money off her 9-lb. 14-oz. bundle of joy, baby girl Maxwell Drew? Let us count the ways.
First, we’re not talking about selling off her baby pictures to People or OK!. That is so 2006. Jessica is a smarter businesswoman than that.
Simpson’s branded empire already grosses between $750 million and $1 billion a year. Now she can add mom-friendly products to her line—that means diaper bags, maternity-wear, baby blankets and 6-inch pump baby shoes.
We would not put it past her.
Jessica’s take home from her business has been estimated in the range of 14 percent of wholesale sales and is likely in the range of $10 million to $20 million a year. Baby product extensions could serve to make her at least another $5 million annually.
“Once people have babies it puts them in a totally different category. It starts when they get engaged and then they become a mommy and then they have the family. Now we will see the Jessica Simpson collection can go into kids things and baby things,” explains Lori Levine, the founder of Flying Television, a celebrity-based marketing agency. “Being a mom is her new platform."
There is also money in endorsing other people’s brands. The market for celebrity mommies -- mama-preneurs -- is huge these days, as every product from strollers to stretch mark cream wants a famous mommy to talk about their product. Simpson can make a stack of cash signing on to promote other people’s products, particularly through social media where she can be paid as much as $5,000 to tweet about baby things. Just by tweeting, Jessica can make seven figures. Easy.
The real money, though, is in reality television. Now that Simpson is navigating the world of being a new mom, viewers will an intimate look at what her life is like. A reality show could bring Jess as much as $5 million a year, and even more if she capitalizes on product placement the way we have seen on Bethenny Frankel’s show and the Kardashian empire.
And don’t forget all that baby weight! Celebrities can make up to $33,000 per pound lost with a diet endorsement deal and Jessica has already been negotiating with Weight Watchers. Criticize her baby weight gain all you want. She is likely going to laugh at us all the way to the bank to the tune of at least $3 million.
Add it all up, and you have $14 million. Or more.
